Rear Bumper
Well, I guess it was bound to happen at some point. I was on my way to class on Monday and got rearended by a 1974 Toyota Land Cruiser with a winch on the front. It punched two holes in my rear bumper and touched nothing else, thankfully. The guy's insurance is covering it, and I had it appraised. Damage total came to $833 out the door. The appraiser said that to be safe, they'd want to replace all the brackets behind the bumper as well, which is where the total racked up even more.
Turns out, the brackets are just fine. My truck just needs a new rear bumper. I called Chapman Dodge in Scottsdale where I bought the truck, and they said a primer bumper was $397. So it would still need to be color matched. I have not gotten a quote on the painting yet. But I'm thinking, the damn thing has 4 bolts, if I can just get away with replacing just the bumper, I may have money left over for say...an intake?
The question is, is there another place I can get the primer bumper for cheaper, or should I stick with Chapman? And other thoughts on the situation...should I let the body shop do their thing, or should I just go ahead and replace only the bumper?

You might try a salvage yard. No guarantee that you'll find a color match. I wasn't able to find one for my truck, and the only other place I could find one was the dealer. Mine cost me the same as yours. It's at the body shop being painted along with my tailgate. More power to you if you can find one some where other than the dealer. If the other guys insurance is paying for it I would worry to much about the price.
RaiderJay has a chrome one he was gonna sell me for cheap...shipping and all. PM him, and see if he still has it. It's a chrome one.
or...take the money and get a roll pan, or a rear bumper kits, or something different maybe. a bumper cover could just go over your existing broke-*** bumper, and now your truck looks completely different.

I kinda like how the rear bumper is though. I've looked at a few of the aftermarket ones. The issue is that mine isn't chrome, otherwise it would probably be a little easier! I can probably get it through work for cost, now that I think about it. Finals have been kicking my *** all around the place lately....
E-BAY..When I was looking for a new rear bumper I saw them on e-bay for around $100 primed..I ended up going with a roll pan instead though
