Default Warranty... Dealership SO helpful!!!

Hey all, just wanted to Post something good for once about a Dealership. I have an 06 QC 4.7l which started squeaking and grinding pretty bad with only 19,000 miles on it. Bough the car used from Car Max and declined their Extended warranty. Took it up to a pep boys service center because the service manager said he would diagnose it for free. Turns out it was the front pass. hub bearings were going out.. They wanted $400 to fix one side! I talked to a mechanic buddy and he said it's a pretty easy job, and i could do it myself... Went to the Dealership To By the Part and by chance, had the parts guy run my VIN for recalls... Turns out these parts were under recall!! They sent me to the service dept where the Manager told me he would change out both hub assemblies for free! Fixed the problem... he even threw in a discounted Oil change for the trouble! He also informed me that Car Max neglects to tell people about the Manufacturer's Warranty that was still good, because they want you to buy their's... So I get two front assembly's a and a warranty I didnt know about!!I have heard so many horror stories about dealerships that this really surprised me... They could have easily ignored me and i would have bouht the $200 part and went on my way!! Just wanted to post something good about these guys for a change... I will definitely be going their to buy my next truck and even the wifey's car!

I thought you were being sarcastic! I'm glad they helped you out. More dealerships should follow their example.

The manufacturers keep saying "the dealerships are independent", and won't pressure them to take care of the customer. I think they need to wake up and realize the bad reputation their vehicles have is quite often caused by the bad reputation the dealerships have!

I thought it was sarcastic at first, too. Good to hear you were taken care of properly. Sounds like the guy on one of the forums whose truck needed a new motor... As it happened, the dealership charged him $50 to transfer the warranty and put a new (probably rebuilt, but so what?) motor in it. I bet most dealers woulda charged him for the new motor, added in the fifty bucks and filed a warranty claim anyway.

Glad to hear that they took care of you. My dealership is also pretty good at taking care of things like that also....
I guess some dealerships realize that keeping the customer happy, means that they will probably purchase another American made vehicle, which when you think about it, can only mean good things for the economy...And believe me, the last thing the economy needs right now is for more people to purchase foreign made vehicles.

Assuming you bought it off a Dodge lot it should have NEVER been sold used without that recall being done prior to sale.
