Default Another Lift Thread...

Well, I decided to go get a quote on a lift sort of on a whim. Turns out there's not a single suspension lift in the 3-4" range for a 2WD Ram. Unless you guys know of one, I've done quite a bit of digging myself, and I've also had the shop digging for me. But I got a quote on a 6" suspension lift. Turns out, parts, labor and warranty, I'll be out the door under $2k. I'm actually seriously considering this. A 6" lift isn't too bad. I know it's not gonna do any wonders for my gas mileage (which I actually believe I have figured out for the most part), but I've wanted to lift it since day one.

I know it's a 2WD blah, blah, and yes, I do some offroading, but not a lot of serious climbing, and the truck has proven itself capable of handling what I want to do with it. I also live in Arizona, so how many times am I going to need the 4WD on the streets?

Anyway, I guess I'm looking for opinions. Is this worthwhile?

I have a 6 inch left on a 2wd. I love it. Be warned you will get lots of crap for it on this forum. What brand are you looking at? I did roughcountry. I went with bigger gears at the same time because if the bigger tires and I did 4.56 gears from AIRRAM and they have been awesome, pretty cheap too. If you got any questions just ask.

Nuthin' wrong with lifting a 2wd truck, IMO. Just know that even without changing to bigger tires, your gas mileage will suffer quite a bit due to added wind drag. Put bigger meats on there an it will go down further.
I'm surprised you can't get anything not so extreme. I had the choice of three different 4" suspension kits for my 4x4...

yea...that's interesting that you can't find a any size youw ant for the 4x4. hell with it hemichk, get a 12lift and call it done. maybe wind drag won't be as effect cause you'll be 3 1/2 feet off the ground =)

rough country has a 3", 2" and a 6" lift for 2wd and I have seen a 5" or 7" (cant remember) from CST. They are around you just have to look.

I think I talked myself out of it today. I'm thinking that I should do the exhaust, intake, chip and bull bar before I do the lift. That way I can get at least a little more fuel economy, although it'll go back down once I do actually lift it. What do you guys think?

i dont know what youre talking bout OE

werent you complaining you didnt have money for tires? if you get a lift and keep those goodyear meats it will look real funny... and yep your mpg will tank, if youre already having issues seeing 13mpg after all the cleaning you did, youll be lucky to see double digits with a 6" lift, esp if you get new meat...
