so Long tubes are the way to go???? cuz I keep seeing mid tubes and shorty's.....I dont know anything about headers but I guess im going to have to soon huh? LOL.....
Shorty's are a waste IMO. About the same performance gains as areplacing your stock air filter with a high flow one.
Midscame about for two reasons. They usually do not require the relocation of the cats, which would cause you to fail an emission test in states that do so, and fitment. Some vehicles just don't have room for long tube headers. Mid's put up better performance numbers than shorty's for sure, but still pale in comparison with LT's.
With LT's the length of each pipe is designed to get the exhaust from each cylinder to the collector in the proper timing sequence. Unlike a stock manifold, or even shorter tubed headers, these gases are never "forced" together, creating back pressure into the cylinder and robbing you of HP. You'll still need a tad of backpressure for extreme low rpm torque, but the cats and a muffler will give you more than enough for that.
Since the LT'swill fit in your truck, the only excuse not to get them would be emissions testing.
Besides, if you are REALLY into performance mods and start looking at cams, almost all the aftermarket cams recommend LT headers and the really aggressive HP ones, require that you have them...
