Default cruise control not working

I drove to a friend's house today, cruise was working fine. 5 minutes later i was leaving my friend's and doing about 67mph and cruise would not kick in. it was on and the light said CRUISE on the dash but i kept trying to set it and i'd let go of the gas and it would just start to slow down, nothing would make it work. i tried about 3 times. the check engine light is on also but for a different reason-O2 sensor or vacuum leak not sure yet which. but the cruise had been working the whole time it's been on except for today. any ideas?

Mine did this one time. I took mine to the dealer, I had other problems as well, but I can't remember what exactly it was. It was nothing major though. Check your fuses.

I had this issue on my 04 and it turned out to be the brake switch under the dash. I notice that my brake lights were on all the time. You can get a replacement from you local parts store for under $20 and install it yourself. Good luck.

my buddy has an o4 ram and his cruise control doesnt work either youll be driving down the road and itll just shut off. I didnt think about that switch until you mentioned it quadzilla. another problem he has been having is his taillights flickering on and off so maybe replacing that switch is a way to kill two birds wth one stone.

Had this with my 05', do a quick check for codes, I had a p2222 or something like that which was a speed sensor or something of that nature. I would clear the code and the cruise control would work fine but the second the code came back it stop working again. I dont really know how I fixed it exactly, but I had to take it down to get the brakes fixed at a shop down the road from us and since then the code has not popped back up and the cruise control works fine...

Turn your key on and off 3 times (I think its 3) repeatedly but dont start the truck and you'll hear a beep like when you are driving without a seat belt on. If your truck has a problem a code should pop up where your odometer is in the dash. If it doesn't it'll just say done and go back to the odometer reading.
