Time for some music
Hello everyone,
I started the installation of some extra bass this weekend. There really is no place to put audio gear if your planning on using all of the rear under seat space for music, so this is what i am doing. Please chime in with any suggestions.
I removed the front seats and put some plywood under the drivers seat to serve as a mounting point. To this I mounted a bazooka 500X1 amp that i have had for years and a voodoo 2.5 farad capacitor. I got my audio signal from a periferal chyaa interface. The green cable in the picsis just temporary to run tests. I have two precision power 122 dvc subs which will be mounted in a dual 12" box from fox acoustics when it arrives. I will post more pics as it comes together.

Yes that is hot glue on the terminals. Being that it is mounted under my seat I want the installation to be bulletproof. Just a little extra insurance that those terminals dont spin.

joe makes a really nice box and comes with the spacers to lift the back seat, he is local were I live he even makes them wraped in carbon fiber. I have a dual 12 box under my back seat and it sounds awsome I'm sure you'll enjoy it and the price isnt bad for the quality box you get.
Good call going with the foxbox! I have a 2x10 loaded with JL w6s and it is awesome. I have 3 amps mounted on the back wall behind the seat, and there was space between the end of the box and the wall on the floor to mount my cap...
oh...btw...while you are taking seats out (to install the spacers that joe sends) ebay has 100SQft of sound mat for like $100 bucks. It makes a HUGE difference, not only in your sound system, but also in incoming road noise and any resonance you may receive from your exhaust....
I will see you guys later, off to get the windows tinted....

I just got a 2005 Ram 1500 Quad Cab and have been wondering the best way to put a system in. I knowi t's going to be harder than the normal SUV install. I want thundering bass you can hear a mile away. What is the best way to do this without puting a box on the seat. I've never done a truck before. Thanks for any suggestions.

Almost done, just some fine tuning left to do..
I have to admit that the box sounds amazing for a box that small. They're dual 2 ohm coils wired in series and then parrallel, soI have a 2ohm load on the amp.

Looks awesome. I thought about doing a speaker system under the back seat myself but with 3 boys I use it when we go out. I plan on getting rid of the toolbox in the back and getting a bed cover. When I do that then I'll be able to consider the seat spaeker.
