Default New Truck New Stereo System

I just got a 2005 Ram 1500 Quad Cab and have been wondering the best way to put a system in. I knowi t's going to be harder than the normal SUV install. I want thundering bass you can hear a mile away. What is the best way to do this without puting a box on the seat. I've never done a truck before. Thanks for any suggestions.

get rid of the back seat. or do a blow through and cover up the bed and put subs in the bed. not gonna get bass that is that loud from a box that goes under the seats. they don't have enough airspace to make something that loud.

yeah your not gonna get good sounding or loud bass with subs that go under the seat. ive had a wood box with 2 normal 12's and a glassed box with two shallow mount 12's and it wasnt that loud or sounded that good. so i took the box out and just use the single seat, flipped it up and put a 15 inch kicker L7 there

i have a 2005 qc and started with the standard wood boxes under the seats with (2) JL W1 series with a 500/1 JL amp. And it sounded ok. But I just put in a whole new system.

I bought the dual box with (2) 12's in it. It's a tuned/sealed box. And it allowed me to put (2) 12" Alpine type R subs in the box. Than I bought a Rockford T1000 and wired the whole system to 1 ohm. And replaced the terrible door speakers with Alpine Type S speakers. My system hits like no other. The type R's are incredibly loud and responsive. So a good system is possible. It just took a lot of trial and error on my part and a crap load of research.
Hope this helps.

I have never really had good luck with the alpine subs, but I got the jl w6s in the foxbox (10s) and I love how my truck sounds. The sound is clean and the bass is loud. without losing the back seat, there is not really any way to get competition level bass...just aint happenin! Not enough room to put a box that has the air space.....

But you can have a system that will WOW your friends while being discreet. I love the fact that my subs are under the seat, because fewer people know that they are there, and when someone gets in my truck that has not heard the system before, they really do not expect to hear what comes out....a very satisfying feeling!

System specs are in the sig

i got a alpine type r 12" with a 500rms amp and it bumps so hard. It is easily louder than two of my friends trucks that have 2 12"s under the back seat. Alot of people don't know that the box has the most effect on how the sub will sound. If your into that deep rap and hip hop stuff like ne then you can't even consider the subs under the seat. My box is pretty big and its ported but I have the driver side rear seat folded up and the box is sitting verticle on the storage platform. I also have quick disconnects and a switch on my amp so I can take it out in a minute. I got pics in my gallery but I forgot if its my alpine or older mtx. check it out. By the way the temp guage on my truck moves up and down literally and inch becuase of all the flex i get.
