In my opinion the RamHammer is the ultimate CAI (even though I don't have one) for this reason. Look at its design.....large opening then as it enters the TB it gets smaller. As air travels from large to small openings it increases in speed essentially putting more air into the cylinders. If I could just break this bowhunting addiction mybe I could get a RamHammer CAI lol.

 

The cone is covered with a heat sheild, same as the true flow CAI, it originally came with a K&N cone that was not covered, still no difference, and more noticiable EGR valve noise... I actually like the covered cone better...

No dyno info here but the "butt" dyno, and based on actual fuel mileage changes, my exhaust and Superchips showed measurable improvement, while my CAI showed almost no change, other than an annoying whistling sound. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't.

 

I do have HD 50 Flowmaster on it. That opens the exhaust some. I think I'll just get a drop in for it...

 

oh if your doing it on a 4.7L your wasting your time.....get a HEMI!

 

HammerZ71 said it all, a CAI, like many other mods needs to be done in concert with other things to actualy realize gains worth your time. And as other has pointed out, allot of those gains are often only seen in higher RPM ranges anyway...so technicaly unless your runnin' er hard all the time you never feel it......all that said, I've bought 'em for the last two truck I own and I drive like a grandpa I like thinkin' it's there if I want it, and appreciate other attributes (i.e. re-useable filter, etc..), and I cannot deny the cool factor - it just plain looks better than the fugly air box

The Ram Hammer is the way to go on a CAI. I improved .2 on the track and the only difference was the RH. I thought my old ram air setup was the way to go but after reading more and more people loving the RH I got one and its awesome!

 

Here's a question..... I was thinking about toying with a "ram-airish" tube from the fog light hole, up towards the stock air filter box? Any thoughts?

 

It's only going to make power once you are going about 50mph. It takes about that much force to push the air up thru the tube and down the throttle body. When you are going any slower than that it will behave much like a stock intake.
