if i'm not mistaken the amp is on/in the speakers. Our 2000 Dakota quad 4x4 had that system and I was told I would have to replace everything. Hopefully for you they changed this setup.

^^^ no.

you can keep the infinity system. all you gotta do is go to an audio dealer and have them order a factory amplifier integration harness for the truck. if you cut the wires and splice like normal you are gonna cook that infinity amp

from metra the bypass harness is 706512 but they should make an integrate harness as well.

I did exactly what Hemikidd was saying to do I havent cooked my Amp just dont for get to hook up the blue amp power wire otherwise you will not hear anything. I have had my set up for about 6 months now. I just cut wires and put a harness in and put the deck in really easy but do not forget that blue wire cause my truck has the infinity sound system and I forgot the wire and thought my deck was messed up.

should have looked this up before I made the trip to BB. thought something was wrong, they said to hook that wire up, worked like a charm.

Don't need a special harness or anything. 2 different BBs now have told me that the factory amp takes high level inputs, meaning you don't need to use the RCA outputs from the head unit. Just wire it up like you would on any other system + the blue wire, and you're good to go. Don't even need to connect it to the battery, acc power, or ground to anything other than the harness.
