Default Change Oil Warning

I do not know if this has been posted yet but hopefully this will help folks out.
Today my change oil warning came on for my 08 Ram. The manual says to change oil every 6k but my warning comes on every 2700 miles. Took it to the dealer since I have free oil changes for the first 3 years. Later as I was running errands the warning came on again. Took it back to the dealer and they showed me how to reset the warning until the next oil change. To reset it get in your truck and shut the door. Turn the key to the run position but do not start your truck. After all the idiot lights light up, floor the gas pedal 3 times. Then start the truck and the change oil warning has been reset. No more having to listen to it ding every time I start the truck.
Hope this helps.

My change oil warning came on at about 2,600 miles too. I would bet that Dodge programs it to come on for the first time around 2,500 - 3,000 miles so you change the oil and get the dirty "break in" oil out of the engine. When I changed the oil I switched over to Mobil 1 synthetic 5W20 and a Bosch filter.

Today was my second oil change. The dealer said the warning could come on every 2500-3000 miles depending on you driving habits. I just don't want to listen to it ding for 3k miles if I decide to do my oil changes every 6k miles.

I dont like how it is programmed to do that. It makes no sense. My oil change interval is every 7,500 miles.

Mine chimes at intervals that make no sense. I just broke 15K miles and it first went on at 3500 miles then I changed the oil and it went on again at 5100 miles and then again at 6200 miles. I have a conspiracy theory that is tied to engine run hours and not miles driven. Because everytime I checked the engine hours when the oil chimed it seemed to chime at about the same number of hours between intervals.

I did not even know these trucks had that feature. I have only had my oil changed at the dealer once, and that was at 500 miles. The last 4 have been done at a local shop, and I doubt they know to reset the thing. Never had a warning light come on.

I've wondered why they chime at 2700 when the book says change at 6K. Thanks for the reset info. Wish there was a way to progam your interval; I change oil at 5K miles, so a 2700 mile chime does me no good.
