Big Horn, Thunderroad,SLT- WHAT do they mean?
In the market for a low mileage 07/08 ram quad cab w/hemi & 4x4. Can anyone explain to me what the packages include and in what order of luxury/price the packages arrange from?
Thank you!
Thank you!
if you are looking for a used truck that new you might as well get a brand new Ram. They are giving at least $10,000 off the sticker price, and then you get the lifetime power train, and you always get a better finance rate if you get a brand new ram, and you may qualify for the Dodge $2.99 Gas guarantee. Check it out: http://www.dodge.com/en/refuel/
As far as ST, SLT, and Laramie, the Laramie is the top of the line luxury, SLT is the next best thing to a Laramie, and ST is more of the work truck not as many bells/whistles/more manual things.
I don't know what comes in a thunder road, or a Big Hornthey started making those packages a few years after I got my truck, so maybe someone who has one will chime in.... Maybe check out a 08 Ram 1500e brochure: http://www.dodge.com/en/pdf/2008_ram_1500.pdf

just check out dodge's website man. but yea, they are offering hard core incentives on new trucks...because of the 09's.
if you do go used, just keep in mind the interest you'd pay on a new one, then an old one. your payments may be exactly the same. it's the whoel reason i got a new one.

From what I remember someone else saying...the Big Horn, Thunderroad, and Lonestar were just editions that came out in different parts of the country. I am from Indiana and they sold the Big Horn's up here. I rarely see a Thunderroad and I think I've seen a Lonestar once ever. I dont think they really mean anything different but I know the Big Horns are pretty sweet. I have a Night Runner which was made in only 2006 and there were only 2000 made.
I think big horn=laramie=lone star=thunder road

I have a 06 ram big horn edition, and the only difference between mine and a laramie is the climate control and the electric rear sliding beer window.

IIRC, for the '08s a "Big Horn Edition" involves 20" wheels, power slider rear window and 34 gallon tank. I believe what characterizes a Big Horn Edition (and for that matter the Thunderroad) has varied from year to year. I placed a factory order for my SLT and was surprised to find on my build sheet that my truck was designated a "Big Horn", found out later that was due to the combination of options ordered. I second the comments above about looking at buying new, now is a great time to purchase new, and you should still be able to factory order, and get the exact truck you want. Good luck!
I dont think the 34 gallon tank was part of it...my '08 "Big Horn" came with the 20" wheels, power sliding rear window, SIRIUS, 3.92 diff, and the smaller 26 gal tank.
