Default Recent visit to a dealership.

I figured I'd post this on here, let you guys read it, then read your comments.....Because maybe i'm reading to much into it....so here goes:

Brought my vehicle in so they could take the Pumpkin off and examine the differential,. because i had been hearing a whining noise from the rear. In addition to that, i requested a tune up.
Well, 3 hours later, the service writer advises me that they examined the differential, and it was fine, so because they examined the differential, they had to perform a fluid change. According to them, they examined the spark plugs and advised me that they were fine.
(Last time i had a tune up was 2 years ago exactly). They advised me that they had to change the Cam sensor, because the vehicle wouldn't start when they tried to start it up and drive it into the bay area......Total cost for the work done, was $413.89....which also included $31.00 for the (Cam Sensor).
Well i contacted another dealership nearby, and found out that the part (Cam sensor) costs $19.78 and to install it was $145.00... the dealership i went to charged me approximately $77.18 more than the other dealership..for the same work performed...with the same "Genuine Mopar part"........When i brought this up to the service writer, he made an adjustment to the cam sensor but that was it..............................................No w, what do you guys think about this...especially with the economy being the way that it is..

I think that sucks. But it tells you something about that stealer, and you can take my money elsewhere in the future. Usually on things like this, we consumers have a lot of things we can do...but none speaks as loudly as the money angle.

I don't know...But i think a dealership would want to do their best NOT to alienate their customer, and have them go to another dealership..Is that the goal of these dealerships, to scare customers away?

Come on, i know the economy sucks...everyone is paying the price dealerships as well as the consumer......But is it too much to ask to be treated fairly? Is it too much to take your vehicle into a dealership, have work performed and not be overcharged, or taken cheated?
