I want to tow my 95 Silverado (4 wheels on the ground ) with my 06 Ram QC Hemi, total trip will be about 1600 mi. There will be 2 of us and I plan on driving the Chevy up any steep grades or hills, the gross weight of the chevy is 6K, Can the Ram handle the job?
Thanks
Tom

Towing 6k lbs is no problem. Towing any vehicle while all 4 wheels are on the ground is much more involved. You see it done behind campers but I've never seen it in any other case. You have some sort of tow bar arrangement?
If you don't disconnect your Chevy's driveshaft (or shift the Tcase into neutral if it's 4x4), you'll run the risk of burning up its transmission. Assuming your Silverado is extended cab 4x4, it's too heavy for UHaul's trailer. The only configuration they can handle is a 2wd regular cab.
FWIW, I towed a 6k lb combined load (Grand Marquis on UHaul trailer) with my 1992 GMC extd cab 4x4 with the TBI 350, no problems at all. My current truck has twice the power it did so it'd be a piece of cake to tow only 6k lbs.

6k will be nothing for your truck. i towed a 9k trailor accross ohio with no problem at all. that's a stock hemi 1500. i even stopped on a really steep hill with the trailor just to see how well it took off. it did everything but spin the tires.

Stopping would be my concern. I would find a trailer with brakes to be safe.
Thanks for the replys and advise
