HELP!!! OIL PRESSURE!! FIXED
hmmm. i was pretty sure the guy on phone at the dealer said $108 for the mopar oil pump for the 2002 4.7. i could be mistaken because i dont really remember what he said, but i dont think it was more than $120. which i thought was a good bit more than what i saw. but i just remebered this site. genuine mopar parts. and the oil pump for my truck was less than $75.

i was looking on the site too and that damn gasket for the oil pan is $36, so you were right on the damn gasket beeing steep. i cant believe you can buy a gasket for $35 and for another $35 you can buy the whole damn pump!
so for both valve cover gaskets, oil pump, oil pan gasket and the serpentine belt it comes out to $178.41 for the parts and $17.84 for shipping.
im going to call the dealer tomorrow to get prices too. thats a good bit of money, so i might not get everything all at once. maybe just the oil pan gasket and oil pump. worry about the other things in a couple weeks haha

Im pretty sure that the upper bellhousing bolts are enough to hold the tranny to the block while just dropping the pan. I wouldn't drive it without the bracket, but just sitting there it won't break anything. But it would make a good spot to jack up the whole assembly so that the jack is not in your way and you won't break off the front of the crank jacking it up by the balancer.
you're not supposed to think like that! think positive
actually, I think we're all pretty sure the oil pressure drop will stop with a new pump & screen.
I don't think you will see any more pressure drops; even if you have a blocked oil passage, you will read good pressure. Am I right? And since you ran synthetic in it, I imagine the motor is cleaner, which is one of the reasons you might have a sludged screen.
now, if you continue to hear out of the ordinary ticking/clicking from the motor but read good pressure, there might have been some damage (valves/lifters starved for oil, or stripped bearing in the bottom end).
Someone help on this: is it worth it to pull the caps off while the pan's dropped to check the crank & bearings??
