Has anyone ever done this?
I want to know if anyone has actually changed out a center console for a seat or vice versa. I have read alot of threads about people wanting to swap out one way or the other but can't find threads on a successfull swap. I called Dodge, and they don't "recommend" swapping them out. I would really like to get some answers...
thats not really funny. I'm looking for some serious answers. Due to the cost of gas, I am forced to get rid of my wifes van. (its impossible to get rid of my truck due to depreciation, not that i would sell it anyway!) I need the extra seat in order to fit all of my family.
On my regular cab, the center seat portion of the split bench attaches to the 2 inboard bolts of each side seat. It would probably be possible to pull out your center console and bolt the center seat out of a 40/20/40 bench in place. The center seat is not that comfortable, though. I would not recommend it for an adult for anything over a short trip. I have never seen the ram with the full length center console, so I don't know how good it would look if you removed it. Is it one of those that flows up into the dash or is it a separate unit? If it's a separate unit, it could probably be removed with little problem, but you wouldn't have any cup holders. In the split bench trucks the cup holders/ash tray folds down from the dash. Your console truck probably does not have that feature.
Yeah, you need a 40-20-40 seat assembly and remove your console. The center seat is small but will fit a child ok. The big fold down console on the 40-20-40 seat is nice with 2 separate compartments.
