Actually, if that is a professional quality job, that is a good price. Most down in Fl. pay more than that for a good paint job when the sun starts to bleach there vehicle white.
An old golfing buddy of mine had his Mercedes painted last year, it's an older one, like about a '96 and it's brown color had gotten just about bone white. Local shop charged him a little over $6k, but the car looked brand new when he picked it up...

BTW: NYPAN, what ever happened with your rear diff. issue? I kinda lost track of it since this paint thing started...
