Default 02 Sensor Question

The o2 sensor hooked up to my K&N intake was unplugged...was putting a bump stop under my filter (when im sitting at a light, it rattles) to buffer the filter and guard hitting, and noticed it hanging...anyway, I was wondering what the consequence of this would have been...

honestly, it seems like ive been getting better gas mileage lately haha but im sure just my driving, just wondering what it would have done unplugged

I'm not sure what sensor you're talking about...o2 sensors are exhaust sensors and are before and after the cats. I'm thinking you might mean the IAT sensor.....yes you need it plugged in.

It could actually be hurting performance by not having it plugged in. It'll read the air temps from the engine bay instead of the intake which will effect your timing/fuel.

It measures the incoming air temp. Hanging down near the exhaust, it will run lean due to the heat in that area. it really needs to be in the air intake tract somewhere.

aite well i plugged it back in...i drove it and if felt kinda slow, kinda had me worried!
but i have been driving the jaguar all weekend on a trip, and had just taken the volvo s60 to filler up right before that...maybe thats why it felt slower...i put a lil redneck chrome around it, so it shouldnt wiggle out...

thanks guys, quick help!
