I agree that the console prolly costs an arm and a leg.

I am going to look into those LED strips. I also found these online:

Only thing that has me hung up is how to connect everything. Never messed with anything electrical on the ole truck before. We'll see

It's pretty much as simple as anything, really. My suggestion is, if you don't use your cigarette lighter, just cut the harness in the back of it, and hook it straight up to the LEDs, seeing as how it'll only need to be on when the truck is on, and that's the closest power source to your instrument panel.

Yeah thats what I had in mind too. I was also considering hooking it to a switch that I could install under the dash somewhere so I can only have them on if I want them. (They seem real bright in your sig, it might annoy me on long road trips, haha)

They're really not that bad. The best representation of how they really look is the top picture in my sig, and even at that, when you're sitting in the driver's seat, you can hardly see the LED bulbs themselves, just the illuminated cluster. I had mine hooked up to a switch initially, but then I got my DVD player bypassed, which requires a switch, and I have my bass **** as well. Another switch was just too much...

Yeah I hear ya there... Did you install the strip on the top of the panel facing down? Or did you install on the back of the panel, with the LEDs facing out? And how does the 12 inch strip fit in there? Was it short, just right, too long?

Sorry for all the questions ha

Top facing down, that way it didn't blind me at night... and it wraps down around the sides about 3/4 of an inch on each side.
