sealr belt indacator problem
hey evey one i'm new to this and its my first dodge to well its a used 04 1500 crew cab 5.7 hemi and so far i'm vey empressed , but i got a couple of little problems the main one is that the seat belt light and buzzer stays on even when the seat belts are buckeled up and it realy gets on my nerves just woundering if any one got any ideas and woundering if it would be covered under warenty?? thanks
Buzzer? I know the seats have a dash light, but no buzzer. You should be able to ground the internal wired for the seatbelt latch and the light will stay off indefinately.

I guess I should have said "chime" not buzzer. Anyway you say it, it's annoying.
Should I be worried that since the light and chime are not going off when I wear my belt, that the belt itself might fail if I get in an accident?

No. the chime is to remind you to wear your belt and so is the little guy lit up in red. They have no effect on the saftey of the belt itself. You can remove the bulb on the dash and eliminate the chime sound and your seatbelts will still be 100% safe to use. First thing I usually do is go through and remove the buzzer and any flashing warning devices. there are always ways around them. If you remove all those "reminders" as i call them, you will not get into any trouble if that's another worry. there is no law that requires any of those "reminder devices". Just can't remove the actual seatbelt...lol
I know you can do this for a 2006, but I'm not sure if it will work for a 2005. You'll have to do a search to find the exact process. But it's something like this. Turn the ignition on and put the seat belt in and out 5 times. Then the light should blink and it will disable the buzzing. Like I said, I'm not sure if that's the exact way. But you can search to find out. The light will still be on, but the buzzer noise will be gone. I would also check for a loose wire at the seat belt. Usually its a plug and play deal by the floor. Good luck because it drove me nut's hearing that.

I had the same problem when I accidentally unplugged the connector wire on my '06 when I was vacuuming it. There was a little connector down by the floor between the driver's seat and the center console. I plugged it back in, and that fixed it. I don't know if your '04 has the same type of connection, but it's worth checking out.
