Default 2008 Homelink in a 2005 Ram

Can I install an overhead console w/homelink from a 2008 Ram in a 2005 Ram? Whan I did, I got the check engine light and error code CC 155

It is not going to work for a couple of reasons. First and most important the '05 Ram computer is different than the '08. Your computer will not recognize the console. Second thing is that there is more to a homelink system other than buttons that you can see. There is a control module somewhere that is connected to the top console with the buttons. Without this, the Homelink buttons will not be able to be programmed.

i thought the 06-08's were shaped a little diffrent. I got a overhead console w/ homelinks from a 04 and put it in my 03 no problem try this one:

They are exactly the same except for the plug into the Homelink. It is in a different location and that is it.

jstmahoney, you got a homelink from ebay.....did your truck have homelink before? i would LOVE to have homelink in my truck, but its not already equiped with it. just curious if it would work in my truck. next question.....can you measure the length of the whole upper console? mine doesnt look like that...mine actually has a flip down part for your sunglasses

yeah mmstar, i didn't have homelinks.I got one out of a 04 ram. make sure it comes out of a 02-05, or else you may have the same problem that hog22 has. But the one i got was just plug and play.
