low temp t-stat for 3.7L
do any of you guys have a 180F thermostat in a 3.7L V6? What part is it? I've been told the 3.7L V6 is the chopped down version of the 4.7L V8 and that any 180F t-stat that fits a 4.7L should fit a 3.7L. Do you know if this is true before I order one for a 4.7? I guess it's not really that much money, so if it doesn't fit, i'll just give it away.
yea, it should be possible. just head to autozone, and go to the parts counter, and tell them your vehicle, and they should give a list of their stocked thermostats...and i'm pretty sure they'll carry a 180....not specifically for our trucks, but they will have one for some vehicle, and with that said, the t-stat will be compliant to the 3.7
you are the first person to suggest not buying a low temp t-stat. I want the truck to run cooler is all... they are very inexpensive, so I thought if there was one out there, just buy it. But there are none out there that I could find, so i gave up. But it looks like most heavy duty e-fans, which is next on my list after a TB from Dan, come with a low temp t-stat. So I'm over it.
well, running a cooler thermostat is an old racers trick to gaining a few more horsepower, but it will also lower your mileage, the main reason people here are interested in one is because the jet stage 2 chip recommends the use of one with there chip (probably to make you think the chip is doing more)

after hearing skepticism regarding low temp t-stats, I read up on emission controls and OBDII...yeah, you're right. that would have been an awful mistake. thanks for the advice! it probably saved me from decreased performance, increased engine wear, and/or emission test failure.
my next thought was crap, the e-fans run with a low temp t-stat, but most are adjustable from 160/180/195. If anyone knows of a good e-fan, please help me out! I've read some pretty awful things about certain e-fans not being strong enough to cool the radiator and causing the truck to overheat.
