Default Sitting at a red light and a Subaru runs into the back of my 2500HD going 35mph!!

My 2500 Ram had my 6 month old son, wife and myself sitting at a red light waiting for it to change. I heard a loud bang and felt the truck jump foward about a foot. At first I thought I relaxed my brake pedal and drifted foward. I looked into my tow mirrors and saw glass, steam, and fluid coming from the back of my truck. My son was still a sleep in his car seat and my wife and I were fine so I got out and found a Subaru under my back bumper and my trailer hitch lodged into the top of his motor. The trailor hitch ripped his motor off of its mounts and pushed it back. His car was totaled. My 2006 2500 Ram 4x4 only had a small smooth dent in the lower bumper. The bumper did not move at all from its frame mounts. At first I didnt think I had any damage. His insurance bought me a new bumper and Harley Davidson hitch cap after it was looked at at my local body shop.
The 16yr old hit us standing still at a red light going 35mph. He didnt event touch his breaks!!!!
Cant argue with physics. Gas may cost abit for the Ram but my family is worth it.

what a moron. very happy to hear your family is okay. I don't think I would ever haul a baby in a minivan for reasons like this.

baby was still sleeping .

Great ending to a possibly terrible story. I have an 8 month old daughter and my wife gives me hell everytime I want to take my truck with us when we go somewhere together. She has an 08 Nissan Pathfinder decked out with rear air, navigation, backup camera, yada yada yada and I always insist on taking my truck, I would hate to see what would have happened if we would have been in that kind of accident in her car as opposed to my truck. I will forward this to her! thanks!

Default Priceless

That is priceless. You should send that story in for a commercial. Showing a baby still asleep as a dodge get hit at 35 miles an hour and total another car. Glad your family is okay. But that is hilarious.

Glad you guys were all safe! Our rams may not be the best on gas, but whenever the whole family goes somewhere, it's always in the Ram, cause it's the biggest, safest, I just feel safe in it. I hate the feeling of driving or even being in our Toyotas, I feel unsafe and helpless. My mom's friend rolled her 07 qc ram last November, and she came out with not even a scratch, and u should have seen the truck, it was rolled 5 or 6 times.
i think i have a pic:
