Lifetime powertrain warranty here. MDS is internal in the engine, therefore it is covered.

Is there an easy way to tell if the MDS is indeed functioning? My mpg is roughly 17.

Hell, if you are getting 17 MPG, then who cares...

If you're talking about city..then yea that's awesome. But 17 on the highway is ****ty...I get around 23 and people claim QC's get low 20's too.

Mine got just over 18 on the highway with under 1000K on it with 4 adults and gear in the bed at about 80 to 85 mph. Low 20's are not out of reach with a broken in motor and a light load in a QC.

Hell I only get 13.5 mpg's in all around driving and might just eek out 16 on trips, no MDS, and I'm modded to the hilt. Truck weighs in at almost 7000#'s with my toolbox full and my fat a$$ in it according to the landfill scales...

With the bed full, a 1000lb+ trailer, 4 adults, and a dog, I got 13.3mpg on a 400 mile trip. That's with about 2000 miles on the engine on a 08 QC burning 87 octane.

I drove mostly, but not all, with fuel economy in mind keeping my MDS light on as much as possible.
