Default MyGig Installed in 08 Megacab

Hey Guys, It can be done.

Coastaletech finally shipped out the MyGig adapters and I got mine today and installed it. So far, I'm very happy with it. I'm getting the adapter cable for the Sirius antenna from the dealership (it's on order). Thats the only thing that is not working right now. It pretty much has seamless operation in the Rams.

Pics are attached.

If you have any questions just ask, I'll try and answer as best as I can.

I paid $525 for the MyGig on Ebay, $289 for the MyGig Adapter and then she was up and running. I also have a MyGig "U-connect Mic" on the way and a Rear Backup Cam that I'm going to be installing as soon as they arrive. I preordered the Adapter so they included the Multimedia cable for free however to run a backup cam with the Adapter you need to get that kit and total its $325.

Yes they are gaps due to the MyGig being shorter than the REC Nav unit. I plan to fix/"hide" it by custom cutting some ABS Plastic to fill in the spaces. I don't have any ABS plastic laying around right now so I'm riding around with the gaps until I get some plastic.

Hey Tarheel, I am putting the mygig radio in my truck later this week. I just had a few questions. How was the install, was it pretty easy, no problems, etc? Where did you put the gps antenna, if you have the nav version? I've never seen how the radio works in vehicles that was actually made for, but how does the radio work in your truck with the adapter, any bugs or glitches? And if you have any other info you can give me about the radio works, fits in the truck, poblems, etc.

i see. looks good and an in-dash navi system is very nice, looks really nice too man. just wouldnt want the gaps. but making yourself some plastic covers will clean it up very nicely. good work on the install. and as for the the antenna location, dont you stick it to the top, under the dash?

Yes you do stick the antenna under the dash. I velcro'ed mine to the top of the HVAC box behind the dash. I'm picking up plenty of satellites, always at least 5, if not more, I didn't ride around in Nav mode most of today so I wasn't able to see how many satellites I could get.

So let me ask, did you have Nav and/or Sirius before and you had to replace/rerun the wires to the antennas for both, or are both of them new features entireley in the truck? Also, did you have to get any ECM reprogramming or tuning done at all (not sure if it cares about the radio or vice-versa, but I know mine has those stupid service reminders, so it must get that from somewhere)... My '07 Mega has both Sirius & Nav already in it and I'm just wondering how big of a swap this would really be..
