VIN Deciphering
I have a 05 2500 quad 4x4. I'm trying to figure out what the ratio in the axles is. Older dodges used to have it stamped right on the axle housing but I can't find the ratio there on the 05. I'm pretty sure it's in the VIN but I don't have the codes to be able to tell. Anybody know how to get the answer short of pulling the covers off, counting the teeth n dividing?

Here's a link to decipher your VIN, but Pyro is right, it's not in the VIN. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/de/full.aspx?Page=47

Gear ratio or any other options will not be able to be deciphered from the vin #.
Unlike Dana axles, Chrysler Corporate (AAM) axles do not have the ratio stamped, but rather placed on a tag affixed to the rear axle. If this is gone, it is also on a sticker inside your glove box.
If you strike out there, get on the Dodge Truck site and request a build sheet. It's nice to have, even though I bought my truck new and have the original window sticker, I requested one for it.
