Default Trans Problem!!!

When I reach 50mph & the truck goes into od & I try to maintain the speed between 50-60 I have been hearing a rattle type noise, I have looked & looked trying to locate the noise but finally gave up and took it to Dodge today.

They put sensors here & there then took it back out for another drive and they indeed found out it was coming from the transmission. I have to take it back on Wed for them to fix.

My Ram is a 2005 with 21,500mi on it, so I'm not too thrilled about this..Its just out of the regular warranty but is covered by the 7yr, 70,000 (after I pay the $100 deductible).

After I get it fixed I'll reply back here...

Regards,
Keith

Update:

Dodge called me this afternoon...said it needs a torque converter, which they had to order. May be able to pick it up tomorrow, at which time I will try to get more details and will repost here with any more info.

This truck has never towed anything or been driven hard etc, etc... Why the torque converter would go out is beyond me???

Think you may be right...

I would like to know what went wrong with it, but they wont be able to take it apart to see, so I probably will never know.

Update:

September 2nd.....and I still so not have my truck back!

They replaced the TC & called me up saying that it was ready for pick up, so I go pick it up...before they even hand me the paperwork, they say "The mechanic says their is still some noise, and want you to drive it for 100mi & if you still have the problem bring it back"...at this point 'm thinking..WTF!!

So I go ahead and say fine, but I can bet I'll be back....as it turns out a lot sooner too. First off as soon as I got to 50mph, there wasnt "some" noise...it was the SAME noise! they didnt fix anything!!!

I drive home 10mi, pull in garage and "TRY" to put it into park...no go! It only goes as far as reverse...they didnt even get the linkage set right when they put it back together.

The truck went straight back, I told them this time DO NOT call me again until it is repaired correctly!

So far NOT impressed with Dodge at all.

Hey man, I read your post, and it sounds very familiar...my truck, a 2006 ram 1500 automatic, once i get up to 45 and the truck kicks into OD, and i get to 50mph, and let it coast back down, the truck kinda feels as though i am pushing on the brakes, and it makes a jerking motion until it gets back into
3rd gear..i was told by the mechanics that they saw nothing wrong and they said it was probably just normal and i just now started feeling it. Ive had the truck for 2 years, why would i JUST NOW start to feel something like that?? Let me know what happens with yours and any advice you might have for me..
