Default Can anyone help? I have a few problems.

I have a 05 Ram 1500 Hemi Quad Cab 4x4.
I have been noticing a shaking in the steering wheel. But, It doesn't do it all the time. And, there is no shaking in the front end of the truck, just the steering wheel.
Any clue on what would cause that?
Also, I have a question about the rear end in the 05. I had a 99 with the 5.9 and the rear end went at about 75-80k. The warranty people gave me hell about it and tried to not repair it under the warranty. Then, they decided to repair it and stated that the rear end was a problem among all Rams with that specific rear end.
Anyways, I am experiencing a hard shift every now and again when driving, and sometimes when I go to back out of my driveway, when I put it in reverse, sometimes I get a hard shift.
Is the read end in this model year different than the one in my 99? I have had mechanics say yes and no. And I have about 75-80k on the odometer so I had a sneaky suspicion.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

You know there's nothing specific about it. Sometimes it does the shaking on the highway, but not all the time. It may be the road surface. Sometimes I am driving in traffic and it shakes. sometimes more than others and sometimes it shakes more than other times.
So I figure I can rule out balance of the tires, because it would do it all the time. Also, it seems to pull to the left a bit if I let go of the steering wheel. And, the front end, tires, wheels don;t seem to be shaking, just the wheel.
Go Figure. I got a Hainght.

Steering vibration is usually a ball joint or tie rod issue... Check the ball joints by jacking up the front, then pry up on the bottom of the tire and watch the ball joint to see if it has free play, 1/4 in. is a lot.

You may also try looking at the drive shaft. I had a truck whos steering wheel shook like a leaf at 25-30 mph and then again at 60 but only at those speeds. Turned out to be busted U bolts on the drive shaft

Tires out of balance or out of round? Thrown wheel weight?

Could also be a drive shaft that's slightly out of balance, the b*tch is a vibration could be caused by any number of things...

I was thinking tires too. But if they were out of balance ( the truck does pull to the left a bit) wouldn't they vibrate all the time/?? Same with the driveshaft?? I am just gonna bring it in to the stealership. I have an extended warranty to 86,000miles and 8 years. Purchased 5 year 50,000 mile extd warranty. I have 75,000 miles so I would think it would be covered under the extd warr. We'll see.
