I didn't get one with my truck from the dealer, always had them on every truck I have owned (negotiations oversight on my part)... so I ordered one after the fact but there was a few weeks where I didn't have it and got all dinged up on the hood... after I installed the shield, all was good.

Min e has the factory chrome one and no mirror rattles here either.

Some of the older ones that had the fender extension pieces may have caused mirror issues, I really don't know.

I can't speak for everyone....I had a 2007 QC, hemi....with the OEM bug shield. I had also put on window vents. Traded it in for a 2008. I noticed how much quieter it was. Had very little road noise. I put on all the pretty stuff. It already had the OEM bug shield. I ordered and put on window vents. Then I noticed wind noise. The only thing I can figure out is the wind is rolling over the vent and creating a turbolence. Before I did that, it was real quiet......

Yup, they work great. Its a must have item in snow country when there is alot of salt and cinders on the roads. No rattles. I never heard of that before.
