Bad Alignment after leveling kit install. HELP!
Hi,
I had a 2" TGC'z leveling kit installed on my 08 QC 4X4 HEMI 20". I've had it to the alignment shop
3 X now and it's been to the dealer once. The problem is, i'm getting bad tire wear on
the outer edge of both front tires.
The dealer told me today that it's from towing! My truck does have a towing pakg.
I pull a 27' camper trailer with a weight distrubition hitch. I've only towed it about 200 miles
this summer.
Any help with this would be great.
Jim.

The dealer blew this one, IMO. If they'd have told you that you are SOL because of the level kit, they would have a valid reason to not warranty your front end issue. If they told you that they would not warranty it because another place did the alignment and screwed up, they had you.
But they told you it's from towing. If you are towing withing the specifications of the vehicles capacity, and it's being caused by that, they are responsible to fix it, IMO.
That said, obviously the alignment shop can't get it right (3x they're out), the dealer sounds useless, suck up and take it to another alignment shop and give them a shot...

The owner of the alignment shop siad he would replace the front tires if, they found something wrong when i took it to the dealership.
I didn't tell the dealership about the leveling kit or the alignment shop and they did the work under warranty.
I'll try to post some pics this later.

Its probally, because the shop isnt doing a full alignment, i know after my level kit the camber is out of spec its running about +1 degree positive camber. the actual toe in/out was pretty close about a 1/2" after, i believe spec is like 1/4".
If you get out in front of your truck and down on a knee, and look at your truck, the bottom of your tires are prolly, angled in (positive camber), which results in outside tire wear. It can be adjusted, just most shops dont unless you tell them it needs to be done.

chris is on the money. you get positive camber when you lift the front of that truck. outside tire wear is caused by positive camber. tell them specifically to fix the camber issue.
the towing issue, you might not be pulling the load levelers tight enough to reload the front end to where it should be. camber will change more dramatically with every bit of lift at the truck's limits, which you are already at since you lifted it. so the smallest change in height will result in a larger change in camber than usual. though having pulled only 200 miles, i doubt that's the problem.

You guys are saying that this alignment shop doesn't adjust camber with an alignment? WTF? Cast and Camber is half the damn job!
And you'd think if they at least half knew what they were doing, they'd at least have looked at the camber after their first attempt at an alignment produced such poor results.
I suggest you find a REAL shop and get a REAL alignment...

Thanks to all for your help on this. Im gonna find another alignment shop around here and try to get this thing right.
At least i got a new set of tires. I'll get them mounted when it's fixed.

I have to agree with Hammer, all those adjustments should have been taken care of in any alignment, it still isn't right after 3 times, I would look for another shop to do it right.
You only leveled the truck which does make some minimal changes in your alignment sometimes. When I first leveled mine, I had the alignment checked and it was not out at all. If you have any shops in your area that deal with 4x4's (full service), take it there and let them do it.
