i made a deal with the Nissan dealership, Yes I bought my Dodge from a Nissan dealer, The deal was, if I leave the .com sticker on the back window I get Free oil changes for a year and tire rotation. I'm planning my first oil change next week. If they give me any problems, It comes OFF at the dealership and placed in their trash. Wish me luck.

Did you get the free oil changes in writing? Otherwise you're probably SOL...sticker and all.

OK, now I am concerned. Mine is due in a month or so. I had been planning on doing it myself, but if the thing has been jack-hammered on, I could be in trouble. Maybe I just have the dealer do it the first time? Can I bring my own oil and filter?

its very very rare that it's that tight. just have a filter wrench and you should be okay.

I had the same problem when I did my first oil change last year. I have never had such a hard time getting a filter off anything else (car, truck, boat, helicopter, etc) as I did on that damn Hemi. I was cussing at that thing for a couple days.

I use K&N filters too. One reason is they are easy to remove and don't require a filter wrench (which I bent so bad I threw it away).

I've over-torqued filters before, just jam a long screwdriver right through the sumbitch and use that if a filter wrench won't get it.

I have a pair of filter pliers I use for oil changes I got from the snap on guy and they work great, but the angle dodge puts the filter at makes it a PITA sometimes. Never had much of a issue though.
