Default EGR Valve I uhh think! 04 hemi

I think I go the egr off. Is there any way to take it apart or how do you clean it? Do I even have the right part? It came off the PS head and has a tube that runes up to the back part of the throttle boddy, near the pcv valve.

Is your truck throwing a code or running bad? If not i'd just leave it be until you can replace it.

I don't know how many miles you got, but at the 60k mark, I'd replace the EGR anyway, it seems to go somewhere between 50 and 60k anyway for most. It will make your performance worse way before being bad enough to generate a CEL.
90% of the time, sluggish performance can be traced to either a dirty throttle body or bad EGR or both...
They were a hard to get item about a year ago, only available from the dealer and on like a 5 week back order so I ordered one and got it about a month later. It's sitting in my garage waiting. I've only just hit 40k so maybe I'll be lucky and it will sit a while longer...

I've got an '04 1500 QC w/ Hemi. Got it w/ 35k on it and now has 44k on it. Check engine light came on about 4k ago and it read EGR..i've been driving it since..sometimes it even turns off..I'm pretty sure it's screwed w/ my gas mileage slightly..but like these guys are saying you can drive it for a while. I bought the truck back home in Iowa and I'm stationed in North Carolina...seems like the humidity out here is what started it..b/c when I'm home it will go off, I've talked to some other dodge truck guys out here...and they are saying the same stuff..

Thanks guys! MY truck has a little over 67000 miles on it so I guess it was about that time. As far as fixing it I just went to the dealer and picked one up one for $66 that ain't to bad I don't guess! I'll be putting it back together this morning!

How long is the emissions warranty on those trucks? That should be covered under the emissions warranty I believe.

Most newer vehicles cats are covered for 8/80k...the other stuff usually only goes until 50k.

If I'm not mistaken, Parts/Service checked for someone who's EGR went on them and he said that even though emission warranty was like 8/80, the EGR is consider a wear item and is only covered 3/36...
