Tire size question
Pirata has 2.5" of level kit AND wheels that have 4.5" of backspace. Without that combination, you ain't getting 'em to go...
Thanks. Is there any way to change the backspace on the stock wheel? Like a wheel spacer? How thick of a spacer would be needed?
I crawled under the truck and see what you mean. I don't think the height would be a problem but, there's not much room at all to go wider. I really don't feel like dropping the cash for new whells especially when I already like the stock wheel.
I would appreciate any suggestions that will allow me to run the 325/60R20 tires on the stock wheels.

Not a big fan of wheel spacers, but that's because I'm an off-roader and they make a weakness. They would work though, if you got them big enough.
The other thing you could do is see if you can get a set of upper A-arms from an '02-'05 truck. They supposedly are the reason we can go 12.5 wide on the torsion bar front ends with stock wheels and you ('06+ coil over fronts) can't...

One more question. I've been searching around the site and I can't find the backspacing for the stock wheels. Anyone know? Or, at least how big of a wheel spacer would I need for the 325/60R20's to clear?
My 07 QC 1500 4X4's stock rims were 17x8x25.4 which I understand as a 25.4mm offset. the numbers are stamped on the backside of the wheel. I installed a 2.5" leveling kit which got rid of the rake but with all the space the stock 245x70x17 tires looked tiny. i too really wanted to keep the stock wheels. I like the style of them but with much thinking and asking and searching as well as measuring there was no way I could get any wider of a tire on there and I wanted 35's. I drive on the beach so a tall and narrow (usually a mudder) was deffanatly out and I didn't want wheel spacers. The larger tires won out and I bought a set of pro comp wheels with 4.5" of backspacing (i think I remember them saying 2 millimeters). The 315X70X17 BFG AT's fit perfect for me. No rub for my kind of driving. Around town and beach here in the mid-atlantic.
OK, will this work? TopGun 2.5" leveling kit and 1.5" or 2" wheel spacers?

I have read thru several threads and still not sure what to go with. I have a 03 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with 20 inch rims. No lifts. Right now I have Cooper 275/55/R20. Can someone let me know the largest tire I can put on the 20 inch rims. I was looking at the Good Year AT/S 285/65/R20 as they are buy 3 get one free. But would like to put the biggest tire on their without putting a ligt or anything on. Saw where some were putting a leveling kit on but not sure what is involved in that and the coast.
I have 05 4x4 1500 with no lift mods. I currently have 305/55R20 Nitto Terra Grapplers on the stock 20" Ram wheels. I haven't had any problems at all with rubbing. It is also time for me to upgrade tires that are worn out and am looking at getting 325/60R20 on 20x10 KMC XD Rockstar Rims. These rims have -24mm offset, which should bring the tires out quite a bit since the stock wheels are a +19mm I believe. Does anyone know if this setup is going to work for me or if I need to do any sort of lift mod. Tanks in advance.
Hey everyone I just wanted to post some info since I just got new wheels and tires. I have a 2005 QC 4x4 no lift. I also had the stock 20x9 wheels. I just purchased a set of 20x10 KMC Rockstar's with 305/55R20 Nitto terra Grapplers last week. The tires come pass the fender approx. 2" and don't rub on the upper control arm due to the backspacing about 5". However, there was rubbing when either wheel was turn so that the back side was canted inward. The rubbing was on the bottom portion (approx. 4-5" from the bottom up) of the plastic fender well. Easy fix added a ReadyLift leveling kit (which actually gave me 3" of lift in the frnt to make it 36" all they way around the truck), real easy to install, and trimed 4-5" of plastic. I was also concerned that the tires would rub again the pintch well at the bottom of the fender so I snipped it a little so that I could bend it back and keep it looking some what factory still. Once did all this no problems with rubbing. I do however have to get 2" longer shocks. Also, an easy fix. I will post pics in my garage if anyone wants to take a look.
