Took the truck back to the dealer today complaining about the shifting up/down and fuel mileage.

Service manager gave me the same "all systems are normal" routine. Nothing wrong with the truck. Supposedly two techs that work for the dealership have the same truck and also get 13-15 mpg.

I now have 1,480 miles on the truck. First 2 tanks of fuel hand calculated to 15.5 mpg and 16.1 mpg. Every tank since has been 14.0 to 14.9 mpg. Today's fill up was 14.7 mpg.

Only modification to the truck was a Frontier brush guard (NOT the replacement bumper kind!)

I commute in the truck everyday, 40 miles one way.

12 miles at 60 mph, no traffic, cruise control on.
24 miles at 65 mph, light traffic, cruise control on.
4 miles light to medium traffic, 45 mph to 60 mph, 4 red lights, moderate traffic.

I drive "light and easy", no jackrabbit starts and all shifts under 2,700 rpms.

Same traffic conditions and speeds both morning and afternoon. Some rolling hills, mostly flat land.

Window Sticker EPA rating of 13 city, 17 highway.

Is my mileage numbers consistent with everyone else's or too low?

You might also want to try driving in the Tow/Haul or "O/D off" mode when not on the freeway. May improve your mpg's plus the tranny is not doing all that "zany" shifting and searching for a gear business. Though with those 20's on there, I dunno mpg wise but it's worth investigating. It won't hurt the Ram.

I did a 175 mile run the other day with my bike in the back on the high way with cruise set at about 2000 rpms and got about 17.4 17.1

My 08 HEMI gets about 14 in town and 19 on the highway @ 2700 miles.

Mine gets over 20 on the highway. Unfortunately it only gets about 12 in town. I think it's just luck. Some people get better mileage than others.

I think a lot of it has to do with the wheels/tires on your truck and the pressure you have them at.

I don't have MDS but my truck is pretty much identical. I've never seen better than 15 mpg highway and 10 in town. The Hemi is not a thrifty engine, especially when it's wrapped inside 6000 lbs of truck.

That's the worst i've seen...you either have really bad driving habits or your truck needs a full tune-up.

If I drive any softer or easier, I would never go over idle speed in gear. Front tires are front 42 psi (44 psi tires) and 40 psi rear. Any higher in the rear produces tire squeals when turning right.

Oh, in town is 100% driving habits I never complain about in-town; it's great gas smileage.

On the highway I pick a speed and keep it, usually with cruise. I'm overdue for plugs & wires (stockers @ 58k miles) so that may help some. I cleaned the TB and associated sensors when I installed the intake last year.
