Angry Damn! Damn!! Damn!!!

Well my plans have changed once again. I pulled the stock headers on one side of the truck to make sure everything was going to line up correctly before I started cutting the other day and of course my new Borla Headers dont line up I tried everyting I could think of but the holes are about an 1/8 of an inch off... After calling them and talking to them for about a half hour or so they dont know why it would be off by so much. They site says they will fit the 04'-05' Hemi. The guy on the phone walked me through everything but still they just didn't line up right. So they are now being shipped back to them. Since that is the only header they manufacture for the Hemi, odds are very likely that they will be off as well. I guess there is a slim chance that the machine could have been off during the manufacturing process but then how many of others are off as well. Good thing is my account has been credited back the grand for the headers which I wasn't expecting it to be so fast but hey I cant complain about that I guess.

So now I am looking for new header options. The long tube headers were going to require alot of fabrication to make them work correctly so I think Im leaning more towards shorties this time around. I know that the the LTs will give me more high end hp and torque but still I have heard and read promissing things about the JBA Shorties as well.... Any thoughts????

Yup, better gains from the LT's but simple bolt on and no fabrication with the shorty's.

You get the pics? I know they were not great, but it's hard taking a pic of something laying only a foot or so away from it. Would have been great it the truck was on a lift where a pic of the whole thing could be done...

Yeah I got the pics just fine, and thank you. Im glad I just pulled one side to check first or I probably would be alot more pissed than I was. They were a solid 1/8" off on the first and last holes, like they were drilled wrong or something... Oh well.

So about how much power loss do you think the difference between the shorties and the Lts will be? Just going by advertised dyno charts the difference between the Borla LTs and the JBA Shorties were only around 10hp, but after doing alot of looking on different sites Ive seen "real" dyno charts showing a 9rwhp gain @2200rpm using the shorties and a new h pipe that comes in the kit.

I don't know for sure. The shorty's are actually supposed to be better for very low rpm torque, but when you get much above 2000 rpms the LT's really start to pull, I'd bet peak gains with the LT's are a good bit better than 10hp, but how often to you live up around 5000 rpms?
I don't feel any real difference down real low, no loss like you hear about with LT's, but no feelable gains either (I'm sure that will change when I do the cam), but like I said, the butt dyno registers a big difference from mid to high rpms. A ton more than I feel in my buddy's '05 with shorty's...

Well really I only drive city traffic so alot of stop and go, and even on the highway I realy only stick right around the 70-75mph range which equals roughly 2000rpms anyways. The only time I may hit the 5000rpm range is if Im "playing" and doing a few 0-60 light to light runs.

Well I think Im going to order the JBA Shorties as they come with a new Y pipe as well, I just hope that they actually fit right...

Shorties and an e-fan are the next mods for my truck. Keep us posted how your install went.

I've had good luck with pacesetters in the past...they're not talked about on this site much so I dunno if they make them for the hemi.

Dude, I must have 50 posts and a couple dozen pics of my Pacesetter LT's on this forum. Complete with a custom ceramic coat inside & out.
