Hemi to 12 valve Cummins swap
#32
The first gen and second gen cummins up until 98 I believe can be started on a tire with a jug of diesel and a jumper box/battery...their roughly a 5 wire hook up. You can put one in anything with a battery and a fuel tank. Only way to kill a 12v cummins is to cut the fuel off...the fuel cut off is a simple solenoid...some people use a wire if the solenoid goes out...as it's a pricey piece to replace. The pump is mechanical...therefore...as the starter turns the engine...it pumps fuel...which runs the motor. Adjustments to the motor are made by a few screws on the pump...its as basic as it gets...pretty much a tractor motor in a truck. Now when you get into the 24v it gets alot more complicated...pretty much youd need a donor truck with all the wireing. If not...good luck.

this is pretty old but it can be done one sitting here with it already done pretty simple setup if you ask me 10 times more power than a hemi and great fuel economy at that get the new body style at half the cost with a better motor what more could you ask for? saw some guy saying you cant do it because of the air bag cluster why are you even in there guess what power locks work great on this truck you dont mess with the bcm so why are you talking about that if anyody is still looking into this hit me up ill snap some pics. swapped with a 5 speed as well no more auto used 97 12 valve with nv4500 have to move the tranny forward a little bit but nothing (not doable) like previously stated
