Default Question about tonneau covers...

I have a question for my fellow 3rd genners with tonneau covers.

Do you have a soft or hard tonneau and how do you like it? I really want to get one but I can't decide between a soft cover or hard flip cover.

The two I'm specifically looking at are the Access Lorado and the Fold-a-Cover hard cover.

I'm concerned with 2 things: The longevity of a soft cover (and I hate that Conestoga wagon look), and the leaking I've heard happens with hard covers.

If you have any insight or there's another type you prefer, let me know why you like what you like!

I don't have one (yet), but I was looking at the BakFlip or Access. I had a soft tonneau on my Dakota, and that was an Extang. I liked it, except for the fact that it was very hard to get on in the cold because it had snaps. I like a soft because it's easier to store and open if I need to put something in my bed. The Extang held up pretty well except when I couldn't get it on one winter and it ended up flapping in the wind and tearing. If it hadn't been for that, it would have still been in very good shape, and I had it about 6 years when that happened.

I like my hard cover although its not like the ones you're looking at. Mines a 1 piece fiberglass cover with weather stripping all around so there wont be any leaks. It also opens quite a bit higher than other ones I have looked at so getting to the back of the bed is easy.

if you go soft i would def stay away from snapping ones. 1 cause the snaps get rusted over time and 2 cause its a pain to unsnap them and put them back if your hauling something tall. If i were to get one i would choose that role up one or one thats just as easy to move like the tri-fold

I've got an Undercover hard tonneau and can't say enough good about it...weighs less than 50 lbs...easily removed...water tight (thus far since June)....lockable and can't open tailgate when it's shut. Only one down side for some...black color only. here's a pic of mine:

I have the soft roll up kind, and I love it! I have had it a little over a year now, and it still looks brand new, and has never leaked. Its a TonneauMaster brand, I got it when I got my bedrug. The place I got my bedrug from had the cover on sale, so I picked it up the same time. You can see a pic of it in my gallery!

I just got the Lebra 3 fold one and love it. It took 5 minutes to install and I can set my load lock at the first fold and use it as a trunk. I paid 300 at pepboys
