personally I DON'T KNOW!!! But when I purchased my tires and rims from JEGGS they asked me if I wanted the tires inflated with nitrogen or air. I studied on it for a min. and said "I ain't got no nitrogen tank, I got a air compressor and I ain't paying nobody to refill my tire/tires with nitrogen if I was to have a flat!" Thats a southern REDNECKS take on it!

Plus they put ugly green valve caps on the stems.

this is a website biased toward nitrogen use in tires,
but they seem to be quoting an actual
Palm Beach Transportation Dept preliminary report:

http://tirenitrogen.typepad.com/tire...each-tran.html

the original info & local TV news videos
about the Palm Beach experiment is here:

HAHAHA , pressure is pressure whether its nitrogen or air.....silly lil boys. If you check your tires regulary then, your milage will be optimized. If you use the high end of the spec air pressure wise then you will get the best your gonna get period.

now tire rot or rim wise nitrogen is good for these purposes ....

The biggest benefit i've heard about nitrogen is that since nitrogen molecules are larger than oxygen certain very miniscule leaks can be stopped and prevent from having to fill up tires as often.

pressure is not pressure
if part of the fill inside your tires
is water vapor,
that can condense to liquid

but I am not ready to say that
nitrogen is superior to dry air
until that Palm Beach Bus study is complete

This is the biggest benefit. Nitrogen does not result in a under inflated tire as fast as regular pump air and since the MAJORITY of the world does not check their air pressure frequently enough this is how they can advertise Nitrogen saves you money. They just do not go as far to say it saves LAZY people money. The only other benefit was mentioned earlier as well. Nitrogen will not expand and contact as much as pumped air. In climates that have big temperture swings it can help as your tire pressure will be lower when colder. But once again, check your tire pressure and this really is not an issue.

As for the moisture content... I can fill a tire, leave it in the elements and keep in inflated. That rim will outlast me in terms of life. The tire will not die a death from the inside, it will die a death from the outside elements.

I have nitrogen in mine. Ive noticed NO difference either in ride nor milage. In ND we have large temp swings and my truck sits alot sometimes for weeks. In respect to losing pressure from normal air pressure changes etc. Ive never had to add nitrogen yet and ive had these tires on about a year. SO for me (lazy man), its been working out ok so far.
