Difference between 07 2500 and the 2500 Heavy duty

The gasser version of the 2500 comes standard with the 10.5 inch rear, and the diesel comes standard with the 11.5 inch rear end. Not sure what other components are upgraded when you select the diesel motor.

i was just curious. and it was also a question as to wether or not the axles/brakes are identical. so if i swap springs it should have the same weight rating as a srw 3500, not a drw correct? and im not goin gooseneck or fith wheel for now.
a gear swap is an easy driveway project(for my driveway anyhow), it has 3.73's now might go to 4.5+ depending on whats available and add a selectable locker. its just a toy for the moment but im goin to use it as tow rig for my other toyota, till i get my duallie. trailer queen and trailer combined weight should be way under the 2500's limits but id like to have the extra there without airbags/helper springs or some other temporary fix.
and a duallie axle swap is easy, so i could have a 2500 duallie.....i kinda like it. just gotta find a bed plenty of truck outfitters in the area.......

If its a diesel you dont need more than 3.75 gears. Everyone I know that has 4.10 hates it they kill the milage. I tow close to 10,00 lbs 3 days a week and I have never wished for 4.10 gears. Yes the brakes are identical. The dual wheel option is really for stability when towing large trailers it adds very little to the payload of the truck. You may have a problem finding a selectable locker for these axles I haven't found one yet. You could get anything when they had Dana axles now that they went to aam axles the selection of lockers is nonexistent

arb lists both new axles, but ive never been fond of their product. seen them fail at the worst possible time, like miles from civilization. too many things to go wrong as in air lines, compressor, diff failure. now i dont want to get flamed for that, its just my opinion.
