I think I would take the 4X4 then get a tow bar for the sentra and hook it to the truck, and then let dad ride in the sentra, while you enjoy the truck----tell him its a gas saving option, then you can leave the ****** strap at home cause he'll already be hooked to you and you won't have to pull him out :0)!!!
