you can but with winter coming, it would be a lot better to run 5w30 in the cold. If its still hot where you live use it until it starts getting cold, then switch over.

I wouldn't recommend it. It's a bit too thick.

I have 10w40 in mine. I replaced it out at work, and it's the kind my grandpa runs in his '05 Hemi. All I know is it's heavy duty engine oil, but we put it in all of our vehicles. It's the John Deere oil. Never had any problems from my grandpa in his Dodge.

i was gonna change my oil today. i bought 6 qts 5w30 and 1qt 10w30 synthetic quaker state. they only had 6 5w30s left. also i got 5w30 cause they were out of the 5w20. as i was getting ready to drop my oil, a friend stopped by and said that he heard of a test on a vehicle that ran 5w30 instead of the recommended 5w20 and the engine ended up burning up cause of the thicker oil. im concerned now and i am waiting now to hear back from this thread to see if the concern is justified or i can go ahead. i really dont want to have to go back the 40 miles each way to return it but of course will if neccessary.

It's supposed to be a REAL big deal to use ONLY 5w-20 in an MDS Hemi...

So then is a non-MDS Hemi fine without having that oil? If there is real concern, then I'd dump my oil right away and change it with other stuff, but really don't want to, since the oil I have in it was purchased when gas was averaging around $4 a gallon, maybe more.
