traditionally
short ram and long ram
refer to the length of the intake manifold runners

some company using that term
to describe their air intake
is probably deceptive
from the beginning
and should be avoided

Your 5.7 already has a 20+ inch long intake runner
that helps with 1500 to 2500 rpm torque

The new model year 2009
5.7 engine has a variable length feature designed into the new intake manifold
that is one reason
that high rpm torque has increased to 407 ft-lbs

notice that this same model year 2009 5.7 v8
does not have any advertising
that some whiz-bang air intake
has now improved either horsepower or fuel economy?

the new 5.7 does have plenty of advertising about
... higher compression ratio
... variable valve timing
... variable length intake runners
.... revised intake port dimensions

no need to be a sucker
if you study the truth about engines
before spending money
