Wink New Headunit 06 1500 Install Help

http://reviews.cnet.com/in-dash-car-...-32815176.html
I picked up one of these for my 06 Dodge Ram 1500 Regular cab.

Anyway,
I am a newbie when it comes to installing aftermarket stereos but am confident I can handle it.
My questions are:
Do I need to take off the dash part to get access to the stock radio?
If so HOW do I take it off? how do i remove the radio? Its a STOCK non infinity stereo system.
It only has two speakers correct on the stock system?(doors)i couldnt tell. Are the stock speakers compatible with the DEH P6000UB? (I noticed something warning about 50w .. and possible fire... from speakers not sure exactly why). I don't want a fire...

It came with a harness that seems to plug in to the stereo with the other side bare wires and plugs ect. Do I need to pick up a truck specific harness now ?

Pretty much I am just looking for a guide if there is one that can explain it. I have a pretty good idea on how to install it all but a guide would be great.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.sorry im so noob!

Dan

Default Try crutchfield first!

They are expensive, but they sell kits that have specific instructions to make installation easy for do it yourself types.

I have done 3 now, a subaru, a jeep cherokee, and a chevy malibu. Piece of cake with the harnesses, and tools they provide.

Again prices are high, but with the information the provide, and tech support number, they are usually very helpful...

yea this truck is a bit of a PITA depending on ur truck. take a pic of the radio and center console and i can give you step by step instructions.

harness you need is a metra XSVI6502 or a 706502, the XSVI will allow the radio to turn off and on with teh key like the stock radio does. altho it's about 50 bux. the 706502 you have to jump to constant power so you always gotta remember to turn off the radio because it will stay on.

dash kit is a metra996507 and a metra 40cr10 antenna adapter.

and fire hazard speakers......BS

and that radio... **** absolutely amazing.

I have a 996507 I ordered a week ago still on the way...As for the harness the local circuit city has the cheaper harness I could use. As for jumping to a constant power, why not jump to a wire that is only 12v when the keys are in? I remember reading there is such a wire nearby will have to look up where. Wouldn't connecting it to a non constant power (only when keys r in) make the cheaper one just as good as the more expensive? Or are there more negatives to the cheaper one.

As for the dash I noticed there are 2 screws at the bottom above the cup holder. after taking those off I think I can pop the whole thing out , just not sure how.

What speakers should I get for the doors + back that will improve sound quality? They seem pretty good already... even tho its not infinity. Or just keep it stock and get a amp + 2 subs like I plan?

As for my sub setup I plan on putting 2 10s behind the seat with a custom box. All I need is 500/1 amp + 2 JL 10s wiring kit and thats all right? I noticed theres a bunch of other crap you can get im just not sure what its used for... like the *capitor* or *caps* or whatever else u can get.

Heres a pic of my dash!

note the green arrows are where i found and removed two screws.

Thanks man

remove the two screws then use some sort of wedge and the entire thing containing the vents and all but the radio will come out. then it's a few screws on radio and tada. dont' turn the key on when the dash is out though.. if you do make sure the airbag switch is plugged in. otherwise engine throws a code.

well the downside is the rams really don't have an easily accessible 12 switched power. everything in the ignition is triggered by resistance both cig lighter ports are constant as well. not really any switched acc in the truck.

bang for the buck on the market now i like kicker ks coax speakers, or eclipse coax's. those would sound great for the doors.

did yous ee my reply to ur last thread about the bazooka party pack?? i remembered it and i can post specs again it's a damn nice setup for the budget you had.

Grab the left side an pull real hard. It's just clipped in. 4 phillips screws hold in the radio.
You need a install kit to mount the Pioneer as well as the proper wiring harness adapter so that you don't have to butcher the wiring.
There is a 6x9 speaker in each front door and a 6.5" in each read door if a quad cab.
They are rated at 15 watts.
