I tried resetting the PCM and so far I haven't noticed any difference, but I'll give it some more time. I'd say I'll probably end up just sticking to turning the OD off. Thanks for the info though wmichell227.

I posted the same question months ago. I took it to the dealership up-teen times. They finally called it engine shuddering caused by the MDS. The shudddering goes away when you 1) step down on the gas pedal more, 2) turn O/D off. The tech said that anytime the transmission is not under a load, it will turn the MDS on. Which pisses me off because I do a lot of city driving, so my MDS kicks in at about 25-30mph and the shuddering is rediculous. I'm trying to get used to the whole idea about the shuddering being normal, but it's hard....

I hear ya ccota112, I'm in the same boat. Most of my driving is in town also, and it gets really annoying. I really wish there was a way to re-program the MDS so that it didn't kick on until at least 40-45 mph. Other than this issue, I really love the truck. I've got a 28 ft travel trailer and it tows it really nice. So now I'm wanting to put a dual exhaust and a CAI on it, and from some of the threads I've read on here, I'm somewhat concerned about the sound while it is in MDS.

Well, I would tell you not to get the official K & N CAI. Maybe try the Mopar one, or another brand. I bought the K & N CAI and it's designed poorly. I might take it off because it's sitting ontop of an A/C hose and it's tearing it up. And there isnt anything that seals off the top of the CAI... it's sealed by the hood when you close it. The bad part about it is it's starting to tear up the fire insulation thats on the hood. But thats another thread... lol!

I have been suffering with this also. It is also really bad on the highway too, the rpms constantly jump 300 rpms.

Looks like the new Diablo Predator might be our salvation! (it will deactivate the MDS!)

I have an 08 1500 with the 4.7 and it does this too. I notice it when I stop and turn right at a stop sign.

The 4.7L does not have MDS. Sounds like your LS rearend is chattering.

The MDS doesn't bother me at all. I know that when engaged, I am saving fuel/money.
The stock 3" exhaust flows plenty and there no gain but noise with a different exhaust.

ccota112, I've pretty much ruled out the K&N. From the research that I've done, you only get the horsepower gain at 5400 rpm. I'm looking for something that gives me gain across the board. Right now I'm leaning toward the Airraid, but I still want to research some others. Then there's the issue of the throttle body spacer...worth the money or not?

Question

When mine starts shuddering it lets out a vibrating sound that can be heard in the cab sometimes it's louder than other times. It sounds like the muffler, however the dealer has been working on it since Saturday and still unable to find where the noise is coming from. The dealer is paying for a rental car for me to drive while mine is in the shop, since they don't have service loaners or rental cars themself.
