Default 03 5.7 dies at idle

I have a 03 ram slt 4x4 5.7L
the problem i have had is while at idle speeds it dies.
I have only seen it die 2 times and my wife said it did it to here 2 times.
up till now it would die and we would restart it and it would act fine.
this last time we drove about 100miles round trip was fine i eased the truck in to park it at the house and it died, i started it right back up and it ran realy ruff it died again, i had to keep feathering the throttle to keep it running. i sat there awhile
i let off the throttle it ran kinda ruff then like nothing happend it ran smooth.
i bought this truck a month ago so i dont know what was done to it.
the only thing i have done was put in a K&N drop in filter.
i dont know if the heavy rain made it run ruff this time or what any ideas would be helpfull thanks.
btw i dont get any service engine lights or anything.

I ran my battery down once and could not get the truck to start w/o feathering the throttle. Once the battery gained charge it would idle back down and either die or idle fine. Dealer told me that it could have been the throttle position sensor. Since the battery died the throttle position sensor needed to reset. Just a thought.

My 03 does that somtimes.
It's only when you are shuttling between drive and reverse when parking.
At low/idle speeds, it suddenly starts to splutter and run rough.
Like it's running on only a few cylinders.
Feathering the throttle does nothing.
But like you said, if you leave well alone it sometimes recovers.
I also have to restart it if it doesn't recover as well.
After that, all seems well again and she runs as smooth as ever??
I think there is a flash for this?
But not sure?
Al.

Sounds like the idle air controller, It's mounted on the top of the throttle body
