Angry AARRRGGGHH.... first dent!!

Well, it happened.... my truck got it's first ding/dent today - and it's barely a month old! Even parking it in the last spot furthest from the store some lazy people left their shopping carts in the parking space next to mine. Of course the wind blew one of the carts right into the passenger side door.

Question: is it possible to get a dent fixed without having to do anything with the paint? There's no marks on the paint at all - just a slight dimple in the door. It's close the the edge of the door about halfway down below the handle.

A picture would be really useful to help answer your question.

There are some companies that advertise paintless dent repair. What they is drill a hole in your door jamb and insert a rod and work the dent out from the inside. Look for that in your area.

I had my car done before selling last year and I found that the paintless dent removal company was great. It only cost $65 for 2 door dings and a buff of some light scratches. It took 1 hour and it looked pristine afterwards. If you can stand to live with it for a while ,you may want to wait until you get a few more dings though (and you know how it goes , you probably will ) because they give great discounts for multiple dings.

i have a 3 1/2" dent in the tailgate. I went to my local reputable body shop, and my estement was $1303! They told me they would have to paint the whole tailgate, scrape off the bed liner, and paint the sides of the bed to match, and then put new emblems on, and bed liner. What a pain! Sorry to hear that about your truck. Try a painless removal. I work at Safeway, so I know how careful people can be with their baskets or even their cars!

When I bought my truck, the first (okay maybe the second or third) thing I did was purposely ding the tailgate. Haven't gotten any new dings, dents or scratches in the year and a half I've owned it. It's the rule of cars: you will have a dent. The way I see it, if I do it myself somewhere I don't have to look at it, it won't get dented somewhere it's going to be an eyesore.

i had a samll ding like that on my 97, and unlesss the metal is stretched, you might be able to use a suction cup to pop it. Or, you can wait for the middle of summer when its really hot like 100+ and place a block of dry ice ont it. If its hot enought the change in the metal's temp might cause it to pop out
good luck
