Lost my Low-end
All -
I just recently installed a AEM Brute Force Intake Systems on my 04 5.7 1500 HEMI, and afterwards I noticed a serious lack of low-end tourque/power. I'm running the stock exaust/headers. Has anyone had similiar experience, or maybe can recommed a solution....do I need to upgrade my headers/exaust? If so, can I just upgrade the cat back/muffler... I just dont want to drop $800 for a set of headers...
thanks in advance !

unfortunately thats whats going to happen. youll loose some bottom end but gain a boat load of mid range and top end. I have the same aem setup on mine. after I got the magnaflow catback though I got some of it back. Its by flowmaster and its not too expensive. seems to be the most popular Ive seen in my area and it sounds great... I recomend it if your planning on keeping your aem setup. I wouldnt worry about headers since it will void your warranty its not really worth it. unless you dont care about the warranty then do the headers but only if you do the hypertech power programmer at the same time so you dont lean out the A/F ratio... Good luck
Not sure if you're ever going to get back your lost power. My friend installed an intake, headers, dual exhaust on his 03 Hemi. My stock 04 leaves him in the dust with no problem, and still beat him in the quarter mile. On the plus side his truck does make more noise, it just doesn't go any faster.....Good Luck
the HEMI doesn't use a MAS, it uses some other thing that makes superchargers and cold air kits do the opposite of what they should.

Truth be told, I haven't really heard of anyone consistently agreeing on any major improvements from mods to the Hemi. I've read alot of "it seems to be better" best case and, like this, some losses in others. After plunking down $400-$600-$800 or whatever on what they're doing you'd want a little more than "seems to be better" or worse than before.
I think part of it is with the Hemi, if any engine is putting out 1 HP/CI stock as the Hemi is, they've already done most of their homework pretty well and there's not alot of big gains to be found. We just keep wanting that little extra. Seems tough to find anything that everybody agrees works well.

...you need to balance your intake mod with a catback exhaust mod....go with a 3" SI/SO muffler exiting behind the rear wheel.... if you go any bigger or go with duals, you will lose more low end torque...
It's all related to the PCM. If we get a programmer, or better PCM, the Hemi will wake-up with these mods. I do agree with you on the HP/CI idea. DC really didn't leave a whole lot on the table like past Magnum engines. The exhaust manifolds are something to really look at though.
