Back in the day the Z28 was the top of the line maro...rumor is GM's going to do it that way again. The manual SS is going to have the LS3 and the automatic is getting the L99 with cylinder deactivation.

I own an 05 4.7 quad cab. Am very pleased with the performance of the engine, you have to understand its only 287 cubic inches moving right at 7000 pounds{quad cab}
Mine has 230 hp with 300 pnds. of torque. If the y can get more hp in the 08 4.7 with just a few improvements just imagine if they have a few more years to refine it further?
Plus i am not a big fan of mds the lifespan and all. For now i will kepp my litlle 4.7.

The MDS hemi's lifespan isn't any shorter if that's what you're implying. I doubt your truck weighs 7k lbs...but i'm sure it feels like it with that 4.7 j/k. Mine sits a little under 5k lbs and QC's aren't that much heavier. You're probably around 6k lbs depending on your trucks configuration and any mods..

Towing Capacity - Maximum Close 7350lbs. 8600lbs. 6050lbs. 6350lbs.
