I wasn't knocking the 4.7, I've got a 4.7! FWIW, the 4.7 is a heckuva lot more refined than the 5.7. The 5.7 is a pushrod, the 4.7 employs overhead cams, way smoother.

Both the 4.7 and the 5.7 aren't quite enough though, the truck feels underpowered with either motor compared to the OP's Mustang. Heck, our trucks are underpowered compared to a lot of "normal" cars on the road today. Shoot, a Subaru WRX will spank me on the uphill grades! I don't care though, I love my truck for what it is, a truck. I'd sure as hell rather get rearended in my Quad Cab than in my Saab that I owned before this, or even my Jeep!

I'd rather deal with pain in the butt parking and crappy mileage and walk away from an accident then save a few bucks and risk serious injury in a little econobox. The only "small" car that I lust after is a 94-98 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S.

well i own a 05 4x4 4.7 and also run a landscaping company. I bought an 07 f150 5.4 4x4 with their "towing" rear end and i also own a 2000 f150 4.6 2wd stepside. I have towed both my trailers with all these trucks and many thousands of tons of sod, sand, mulch etc. In all honesty, ranking these trucks as how they have performed in my line of work, 1 my dodge, 2 the 00 F150 4.6, and than the 07 tri a ton. If i didnt have exhaust on my dodge i would drive it every day(the snoody's in the high class neighborhoods dont like it) but the old 4.6 actually does a better job than the 5.4 with anything i throw at it. I guess my point of this is to say you really cant go wrong with the 4.7. Yeah the guys with the Hemi have the phrase "yeah its a hemi" but do a couple of decent mods and buy the hemi logo on ebay for 15$ and say its a hemi! But if you want real advice on buying a truck, ill tell you this..... buy at LEAST a 2500 you wont regret it.

It's power to weight ratio man...that doesn't mean our trucks are underpowered. Underpowered would be a truck that can't get out of it's own way or has a hard time towing. Of course a 3,000lbs car with 200whp will walk a 5,000+lbs truck with 270whp.

There is something wrong with your 07 3V 5.4L if the anemic 4.6L in the 2000 will out tow it!!
