I have the 4.7, regretfully I had to switch back to conventional, I was using the Mobil1 full syn and lost 2-3 mpg in the city and a steady 3 on the highway. I tried three different times with the same results. I'm sticking with the Valvoline I'm running now. I'm back up to 18-19 mpg in the city and 23-25 hwy.
That's hard to believe! however, my mileage in my '08 5.7L did seem better and then all the sudden got worse. I changed my oil to synthetic my first oil change at 830miles. I was getting 13 all day in city even jumpin on the gas often. Now I have 1900miles and only get 11.5-12 going easy in the city. It's always said that synthetic yileds better mileage because it's lubricity or whatever you call it. I know it's way to early to start even getting used to a certain MPG because it's premature stage for break-in period, but Man you got me thinkin lincoln...haha

I Have a 4.7 I use Iridium plugs. (NGK) bought them at advanced auto. Used platinum but I really think my MPG went down after installing them, so I went to Iridium.
Man thats some good MPG for a 4.7L.
I think I used to get 15.1 in the city 22/23 in the highway at approx. 65MPH which I no longer do.

Winter blends of fuel usually get worse mileage is why it suddenly dropped!!

I will only use synthetic oil. Mobil 1 is my choice. My Ram gets 5W-20, my Grand Cherokee, and Wrangler get 10W-30. My Mustang (over 225,000 miles) gets either Valvoline Dura-Blend or Castrol Syntec-Blend semi-synthetics. They ALL get WIX filters!
