Hey guys, just checking out mpg threads to see how I was comparing. Only had my V6 for two weeks. Got 16 mpg with the first tank and 17 mpg with the second. I do about 60% freeway the rest city. I'd like to get it up to about 18 - 19. Any tips?

we all need non-loser engines. we all have v6's working WAY to hard to pull our trucks...therefore, poor gas.

intake, headers, lighter wheels.

You said it Derrick.

Also...

The less you touch the PEDALS, the more MPG you'll get.

ouch, mine has gone up quite a bit since I stopped all the city driving, started putting 88 in, and used better oil. I'm getting around 18 or 19 with a mix of city and highway driving.

That's good mileage Redbud, most of my driving is stop and go in 35 and 45 zones. I managed to top out at 16.6 recently with no ethanol gas. I'm planning on swapping to royal purple at my next oil change, and once I hit 30k going to RP in the differential and tranny. I just put a taurus e-fan on, so I'm hoping to see at least 1 mpg from that.

i started calculating my mpg not too long ago. city i will average 13mpg when i drive like an old lady or old man. i mean keeping the rpm under 2k leaving the light and around 1.5k cruising. keeping it under 2k from a dead stop is really really hard to do. like a turtle.

highway i see 20mpg going 65mph and 23mpg going 55 behind a big rig. about 100-115 miles on 1/4 tank of gas freeway trips. I also have a tunneau cover over the bed with a 100lb speaker box inside

keeping in mind I never serviced my truck. been 3 years i put 10k miles on it, bought it with 40k on it. and 22' rims plus 2 12' subs in the bed....yes in the bed (have the single cab box for behind the seat but they dont get loud enough) hahahaa i love attention

Right now I am averaging 18 mpg....I drive 130 miles a day round trip for work 6 days a week.....the place isnt worth it but I do get an employee discount on vehicles from the dealership....I just wish I could bump it up closer to 20 mpg but I cant really complain about that for a truck.......thought about getting a cummins diesel in the 02-05 range since diesel is cheaper but cant really afford one right now so I will just keep doin stuff to help this RAM

at a rate of 130 miles a day ur gunna burn a serious hole in your pocket. should get a small car on the side.

oh ya and to save u can also get a mesh tailgate even though they are so tacky lookin.
